Broighter Gold Rapeseed Oil is an award winning, single variety cold pressed oil that is grown, bottled and blended on the outskirts of Limavady, in the NW of N.Ireland. Broighter pride themselves on quality, consistency, and on looking after the environment, wildlife, and traditions for the next generation. Broighter Gold Rapeseed Oil has been tested and contains no traces of Erucic acid. Cold pressed oil retains more nutritional quality than refined oils, and Broighter Gold Rapeseed oil is rich in Omega 3, 6, and 9. Richard and Leona Kane farm approximately 800 acres of wheat, barley, oilseed and carrots, all grown on the outskirts of Limavady in the farmland of Myroe, Magilligan, and Campsie. The farm diversified in 2011 into a high-end quality cold pressed rapeseed oil. The farm is conscious about the environment and open on what steps they are taking, which can all be viewed on their public website. These include using a ‘mintil’ system which minimises disruption to the soil; planting wildflower margins with native Irish flowers; planting winter vetch to put nitrates into the soil naturally and for wildlife and bird cover; working alongside the RSPB – with barn owls nesting on site; using solar panels to power the drying sheds and pressing room; and taking steps towards being a zero waste company.
