As directors of Source Grow, our goal is to provide local fresh produce, at an affordable price, which is grown in a way that is sustainable and nature friendly. This all starts with the local producers that we work with, who are the real heroes of our food stories. Our producers tell us what price is fair for them, ensuring that they receive a fair rate. However, by cutting out the many middle men involved in larger, more global food systems, we think that prices remains fair for our customers too. When shopping with us, you know that if it can be found locally then we will always source it locally. 'Local', for us, means that fresh produce (fruit, and veg) is sourced from within the island of Ireland while shelf stable produce (oils, pastas etc) is sourced from within the whole of the UK and Ireland. Occasionally, we may source items from further afield but only if they cannot be grown locally and we are confident they are produced to the highest ethical standards. Horticulture in the Northern Ireland is massively underrepresented and needs your support! While we also prioritise produce that is organic or sustainably grown, this is not always possible and we will always be clear with our members where we have sourced our produce from and how it was grown. By working closely with local growers, we hope to encourage more organic and nature friendly horticulture in the future. We are passionate about our mission and always happy to talk about Source Grow, please feel free to contact us if you want to chat food systems or (of course) if you would like to subscribe to a food box!
